1. Student must be fourth-year standing;
2. Total academic load not to exceed 18 units for the semester;
3. Senior Practicumis not taken simultaneously with Senior Project;
4. Waiver and Quitclaim, signed by the parents; and
5. Undertaking.
For the regular semester, a student can look for placement within Naga City and the nearby towns, or elsewhere if ICSE090 is the only subject enrolled, in any case subject to the approval of the practicum coordinator.
For the Summer semester, the student must look for placement in Manila or other major cities. The host institution must be a known IT firm or an organization with a large IT function.
PROCEDURES
Prior to enrollment, it would be to your advantage if you have made tentative arrangements already for practicum placement. As a requisite for enrollment, you should download and print the Waiver and Quitclaim, then ask your parents to read and sign the document. Likewise, you need to print and sign the undertaking, which you can also download from this site. You cannot enroll in ICSE090 without these documents.
Upon enrollment, the class will meet only once as a group for orientation, advisement, and grouping. After which, you may approach the practicum coordinator at any time to consult.
See to it that you have an application letter and a resume. There are links to selected online resources at right to assist you in writing the application letter and creating your resume. Upon presentation of your application letter and resume, your practicum coordinator will give you a recommendation letter. You will likewise need to download and print the Memorandum of Understanding. (Ask the dean, Dr. Allan Sioson, to sign this document first before you ask your host insitution to sign the same). All documents mentioned above should be sent to the host institution, and the MoU is expected to be returned to the practicum coordinator duly filled out and signed prior to the start of actual practicum placement. Any work rendered before the submission of the MoU shall not be counted towards completion of the 200-hour requirement.
