Summer 2009
My wife and I used to go on a road trip to Albay for a visita iglesia every Holy Thursday. We usually start in Legaspi, and visit the churches of the towns we pass by in the long drive back to Naga. This year, however, with Marielle in tow, we decided to go on a one-stop pilgrimage in Kawa-kawa, Ligao. The Carmelite nuns have built more-than-life-sized statues of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of
Christ around a hill called Kawa-kawa. It was both an exercise and a sacrifice, because the pathway was steep and slippery, aside from the fact that Marielle had to be carried all the way to each station against her will.
I recommend the place to those who have not been there yet. It would be a worthwhile visit. [Along the highway and after the second crossing with the road to Ligao proper, slow down and watch out for the small road sign to your right, approximately 100 meters or so, then turn right].
As the summer vacation begins and before tourists flock to Boracay, Marielle must have the chance to wear her cute little bathing suits and visit the place where the story of her life started. Hence, right after the wedding of Chie and Bilog, the family proceeded to Boracay. Marielle, used to the tiled floor of the house, did not like the sand on her feet a bit.
She enjoyed the waters though, but she did not want to stay on her baby float.
